Do We Handle Services Outside Rochester?

We provide funeral and cremation services almost everywhere in upstate New York. We should be contacted immediately upon any family members death.

What Happens if the Death Occurs While Out of the State?

A. We should be called immediately at 585-227-2700. Our staff will assist your family in making all of the arrangements in the state or country in which the death occurs. Contacting us first may save you money.

What Are the Nearest National Cemeteries?

The closest National Cemetery to Rochester is Bath National Cemetery. It is approx. 6o miles south of Rochester. For more information, please visit our Cemetery Benefits page.

My Husband is a Veteran and Wants to Be Buried in Our National Cemetery. Can I Be Buried With Him?

Yes. The veteran and the spouse are buried together.

We Prefer Cremation. Can We Be Buried in a National Cemetery if We Are Cremated?

Yes. Many National Cemeteries have space for both casketed and cremains interments. In many cases, cemeteries have special garden, niche and scattering areas for cremains interments.

How are Social Security and Veterans’ benefits handled?

We notify both agencies. Social Security pays a lump sum death benefit of $255 directly to the spouse. Veterans receive cash benefits based on disability or other requirements.

Can I Prepay the Costs of My Arrangements?

Yes. All funds are placed in a trust account according to the laws of the state of New York. It makes sense to prepay. We offer price-guaranteed funeral plans. The interest that is earned offsets price increases resulting from inflation.

Costs & Financial Assistance

Are There Any Cash Benefits For Veterans?

VA burial allowances are partial cash reimbursements of an eligible Veteran's burial and funeral costs. When the cause of death is not service related, the reimbursements are generally described as two payments, either a funeral expense allowance, or plot or interment allowance. Benefits generally range from $300 to $1400 for non-service related deaths. For service-related deaths, benefits can be as much as $2000.

Do You Offer Any Discounts For Veterans?

We offer service discounts up to $500 for the Veteran and their spouse. Please see our Cash Benefits page for more info.

How Are Funeral Expenses Paid For?

We accept a variety of payment options, including cash, check, major credit cards, life insurance assignments, VA benefits, funded burial trusts and Department of Social Services. Please see our Financial Assistance page for more info.
