In 1927 Norbert E. Vay opened the Norbert E. Vay Funeral Home at 604 Maple Street. Forty-one years later Kenneth P. Schleich became a partner in the firm and a second location was opened at 2692 Dewey Avenue in Greece. The firm now became Vay & Schleich Funeral Home. In 1978, a long-time employee Douglas C. Meeson became a partner with the company and in 1985 the name, Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home was adopted. Two years later, in 1985 Douglas C. Meeson and Robert E. Vay (the grandson of Joseph R. Vay (brother of Norbert) purchased the business from Kenneth P. Schleich.

The success of our funeral firm and the growth of the Town of Greece spawned the need for another funeral home. As a result of this need, a third location was opened in 1989 at 1075 Long Pond Road.

With the retirement of Robert E. Vay in 2004, Douglas C. Meeson called on his twin sons Mark & Scott, experienced funeral directors who grew up in the family business. <

Today, Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home is Greece’s Oldest Family Owned and Operated Funeral Home. For over 80 years, we have been committed to serving families in our community with compassion, respect, dignity and trust.
