Survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Lillian Scarantino; loving children, Jim (Maryjo) Scarantino, Frances (Edward) Boss, Kathy Scarantino, Celine (Rick) Thompson, Maria (Robert) Horrocks, Leo (Colleen) Scarantino, Theresa (Eric) Bortell; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Vergilio Scarantino; son-in-law, David Isgro; many nieces, nephews, cousins; loving family and dear friends.
Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served our country during WWII in The Battle of the Bulge. He met his wife dancing and they have been avid dancers ever since winning many awards. Jim was taught the lost art of how to be a "true" brick mason by his father, Salvatore. He was a loving and devoted man to his family. He owned Jim's Stop n Shop grocery store for 27 years. The mom and pop store is still standing after 62 years run by 3rd generation. He was a devout catholic, world traveler and had a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jim’s visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 10th 2-6 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 11th 10:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Entombment, Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Veterans Outreach Center in his memory.
