Obituary

ROCHESTER - Loving Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law and Aunt. Beverle passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 22, 2018 at the age of 96 at Aurora House in Spencerport, New York.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard, the love of her life, and her baby boy, sister Dorothy Smith, brothers William P. Johnson, Jr. and Thomas H. (Mickey) Johnson.
Beverle is survived by her three children: Richard (daughter-in-law Karen Benson), Douglas, and Donald (daughter-in-law Stephanie Benson); grandchildren, Eric (Robin), Matthew (Lisa), Brian (Mallory), Holly, and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Riley and Emily; sister Donna (Corkey) Luchs, brother James E. Johnson; and many special nieces and nephews.
Beverle was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania to William P. Johnson Sr. and Clarissa Johnson on September 24, 1922. After high school, she received a college scholarship although she was unable to attend due to family responsibilities. She served as a civilian driver for the Army at Fort Benning, Georgia in WW II. She worked as a lab technician in Ridgway, PA and later in life became a bookkeeper and office manager for a major law firm in downtown Rochester. She also served as an election inspector for Monroe County for many years. She was an especially kind, generous, loving and caring person who cherished her extended family and was a proud member of the Girl Scouts, PTA and Methodist Church.
She was an avid bowler, loved playing bingo and card games and doing crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made many special and fond memories happen at family reunions, vacations, picnics, parties, holidays and especially at Christmas. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
There are no calling hours. There will be a private service and interment at the convenience of the family in Ridgway, PA. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the director, staff and volunteers at Aurora House and the aides from Visiting Nurse Service. Donations may be made in Beverle’s name to the Aurora House of Western Monroe County, 2495 S. Union Street, Spencerport, New York, 14559. "We greatly appreciated everything you did to make dad’s funeral special and unique. If he could thank you himself he would. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you ever so much."
