Concetta “Connie” DiSalvo Messina

Concetta passed away peacefully on the Lord’s Day. She will join her beloved husband Adolfo and son Steve. Her remaining children are Carmen and Joseph along with Johanna, Don, Diane, Maurice and Larry. Connie leaves behind her precious grandchildren whom she adored and loved so deeply: Regina, Larry, Joey, Angelina, Nicholas, Haley, Matthew, Lina Rose, Forest, Gabriel, Carrie, Jonathan and Krystal. Great grandchildren: Emma, Nate, Vinny, Victoria, Leonardo, Kailee, Addy, Ryan and JJ.

Connie has one remaining sister Elena (92) who lives in Sicily and her beautiful first cousin Lena DiSalvo Greco. There are numerous relatives in Italy who love her. So many other family friends called her NONNA or MA and she considered each one special.

Connie and Adolfo arrived in New York from Agrigento, Sicily with three little children on February 12, 1958. They loved AMERICA so much. Connie was a seamstress at the former McFarland Clothing Company located in Midtown Plaza. She loved to keep busy by sewing, cooking, baking, reading, gardening, playing BINGO, attending Bible Class and Mass, traveling, and laughing. She loved life and will be remembered for her contagious smile, warm hugs and silly conversations.

A private service is being planned in Buffalo, New York. No calling hours or visitation are planned in Rochester. A special fund has been established at the Kirkhaven Home where she enjoyed the past four years surrounded by loving and caring staff. In lieu of flowers, donations will be used to place a plaque or park bench in her name at the Community Garden on Park Avenue.

Checks can be mailed in her honor to: Kirkhaven Home* 254 Alexander Street* Rochester, NY 14607.

Rest In Peace Nonna

"We greatly appreciated everything you did to make dad’s funeral special and unique. If he could thank you himself he would. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you ever so much."
