Eleanor B. Betlem

Greece: Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at age 93. Predeceased by beloved husband, Frederick Betlem; son, David Betlem; daughter, Paula Betlem; brother, Frederick Bonnet. Survived by daughter-in-law, Anne Betlem; grandson, Todd (Chrissy) Betlem; granddaughter, Deborah (Keith) Anderson; great-grandson, Kaelan Anderson; brother, Paul Bonnet; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

After graduating from Suny Geneseo Eleanor taught in the Greece School District for over 35 years, where she became known as “The Management”. Eleanor was a dedicated teacher and made many friends; we never went anywhere that she didn’t run into a former student or parent. She was fearless in stating her opinions. Eleanor was a fantastic cook and shared her talent with family and friends often. She had a jest for life, enjoying her family, sewing, bridge, travel, theatre, Syracuse Basketball and the Arts. We will miss her quick wit and infectious laugh.

Friends may call Friday (March 22nd) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schliech and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, where her family prayers will be held at 7:00 PM. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in her memory. For more information or to sign Eleanor’s online guestbook, please visit

The American Heart Association's mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular disease and stroke. The association was founded in 1924 and today is the nation's largest national voluntary health agency devoted to defeating heart disease and stroke, which together claim about 950,000 lives each year and rank as our nation's No. 1 and No. 3 killers. To prevent, treat and ultimately defeat these diseases, the association funds research, creates and implements professional and public education programs focusing on improving emergency care and reducing risk factors, holds community service activities and engages in advocacy efforts to safeguard American's health.

"We greatly appreciated everything you did to make dad’s funeral special and unique. If he could thank you himself he would. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you ever so much."
