Ruth G. Klier, age 98, of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with her daughter at her side. She was born in Rochester, NY on December 18, 1919, a daughter of Walter A. Guyett and Mable M. (Coakley) Guyett. She married the love of her life, Lyle C. Klier on July 21, 1941.

Ruth is survived by her children, Cheryl (Gerald) Karpinski of Tully, NY and Patrick (Mary) Klier of Neshkoro, WI; 5 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; Sister-in-law Dorothy (Klier) Ward, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lyle C. Klier; her parents Walter and Mabel (Coakley) Guyett; sister Eileen Evershed; Niece Gail Scott.

Ruth was a very loving, caring, wife, mother, family member and friend. She was generous with herself and whatever she could give to help someone. Even though she lost her independent mobility over the last 5 years, she would help whoever came to visit her, through discussions with her wisdom, and with her positive and loving approach. She always found the strengths in a person and was good at giving hope.

Ruth was raised in a time when families lived closer to each other and she did as her own mother had done, provided a home for extended family when needed along with the support of Lyle. She had several jobs including, modeling in her teen years, and various office jobs, including one at General Electric, following graduation from Charlotte High School and additional business education. However once she and Lyle began having children, she focused most on being a devoted wife, homemaker, and active member of the Catholic Churches in Rochester, NY which included the Legion of Mary and other ministries. After Lyle’s retirement, she was a Eucharistic Minister, made rosaries to give away, was a member of the Council of Catholic Women with the churches in Delray Beach, and Sun City Center, FL. Her other interests and enjoyment came from swimming, skiing, fishing, playing tennis, golf and the violin.

Ruth had a strong will to be as independent a person as she could be, and not a “bother “to anyone even in her last years. She was a steady, loving and good role model for every life that she touched. We are not alone in missing her.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday (Feb 7th) 9:30 AM at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612. Interment will follow at Parma Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmaus House, 733 South 14th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601 or or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or

"We greatly appreciated everything you did to make dad’s funeral special and unique. If he could thank you himself he would. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you ever so much."
