Obituary

Susan A. Rittler
(Hannon)

Susan Ann Rittler, age 71, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Sue was born at St Marys in Rochester NY to John and Grace (Eastman) Hannon. She earned her Masters in Elementary Education degree from SUNY Brockport in July 1974 and obtained both her NYS and Arizona State teacher certification. Along with her former husband Joseph G. Rittler, she raised her 5 children and cared for several foster children through the Monroe County Foster Care system for many years. After raising her children, she craved adventure out west in Arizona where she resided for twenty years with her partner Louis Struble. In recent years she decided to return to New York to spend time with her 5 children, Lisa Guarino (Terry), Laura Slusarenco, Christine DiVincenzo, Susan Richmond (Jeffrey), Joseph Rittler (Allison) and 10 grandchildren, Joseph and Trevor Slusarenco, Marissa DiVincenzo, Christopher Hills, Alex and Ethan Richmond, Sophia Guarino, Elise, Johanna and Zachary Rittler.
Susan also enjoyed spending time with the “ladies” from the Spencerport Senior center where she frequented as well as with her close cousin Terri Weed. Socializing and playing cards were just a couple of her favorite activities. In addition, Sue also enjoyed movie night and long conversations with her sister Patricia Irizarry.
Friends and family are welcome to join in Susan's celebration of life on Saturday June 29th from 10:00am-1:00pm at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 38 East Avenue, Hilton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Palliative Care Program, University of Rochester Medical Center in her memory.

"We greatly appreciated everything you did to make dad’s funeral special and unique. If he could thank you himself he would. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you ever so much."
